Calculate Additional/Custom Charges Based on Inventory Usage

In Viberent, you can charge your customers for non-inventory one-off charges at the beginning of the rental. For example, for a Plant & Equipment rental business, you may wish to charge $x per hour for labour staff to commission/install equipment at customer premises based on weight or volume or per hourly charge.

Let us take an example of a Scissor Lift rental business charging an hourly rate of $75 per hour depending on the type of Scissor Lift.

  • Small Scissor Lift - takes 1.5hrs to install/commission
  • Large Scissor Lift - takes 2.5hrs to install/commission

To achieve, the above, we need configure few things.

Inventory Configuration

You can select the item that attracts such charges and specify Unit Factor associated with that item.

  • Open the item in Inventory Management Screen
  • In the Unit of Measure field, tick-the box titled "Calculate Additional Charges"
  • In the box below, specify the unit factor (eg each unit of this item requires 1.5hrs to install)

Custom Charges Configuration

  • Go to Settings - Item Management screen
  • Select Custom Charge section
  • Create a Line and select the box titled "Calculate Additional Charges" for the line
  • Save the entry

When you create a Quote or Rental, the system will calculate the additional charges.

Per the above example of each Scissor Lift requires labour charge of 1.5hrs @ $75 per hour. Based on this, Viberent calculates the Labour amount as $112.50
